“Riesling” is quiet, willing, and overall an outstanding mare and a great mover.
Riesling has primarily hunted with Rappahannock Hunt, however, throughout her two seasons hunting, she has also been out with Moore County Hounds in Southern Pines, NC, Old Dominion Hounds, Warrenton Hunt, and Thornton Hill Hounds. She primarily hunts in second and third field due to age, but has gone 1st field and is ready to take on the challenge with a confident rider (1st field with Moore County January 2023).
Riesling is an incredible jumper that actively seeks the fence and sees her spot. She is bold and brave to the fence whether she is leading, following or jumping solo. Riesling is snappy with her knees and round over the fences. She has competed in hunter paces, local hunter shows, local dressage shows, trail ridden extensively, and schooled cross country.
Riesling is beyond exceptional in the hunt field, stands at checks (often yawning) and soft to the riders hand. She can be sound sensitive so she hunts and rides best with ear plugs. She requires a good warm-up on cool days, she is a more submissive personality that requires re-assurance and prefers to have a bubble from other horses. That being said, she needs a confident rider as she continues to learn. She prefers to follow on the trails or in the hunt field but will lead if needed. She is not for beginners however she has potential for a competent amateur working with a trainer. She will truly excel as a fox hunter in any field or as a low level eventer.
Riesling ties, clips, bathes, stands for the farrier/vet and self loads onto the trailer. Riesling is up-to-date on all vaccines, coggins, vet, farrier, etc. She currently wears front shoes but would be fine barefoot if not in work. 5 Panel Genetic Test N/N.
