2011 15.3h Argentinian Thoroughbred gelding

He played polo for many years and is currently foxhunting with White Hall Hounds in Middleburg, Virginia.

In the hunt field, Phoenix is a dream to ride. As a staff horse, he is stands for gates, goes away from the field without a fuss, and is sure-footed. Phoenix does not shy away from hounds jumping through cover and is happy to go through mud and thick brush. He has a comfortable canter and he goes at whatever pace the rider wishes to go. As a horse in the field, Phoenix is so much fun. He is one of those horses someone will thoroughly enjoy foxhunting first flight. Phoenix will jump coops, stone walls, timber jumps, water jumps - you name it. He is game for any type of fence. Phoenix has introduced several newer riders to foxhunting and has been used as a guest horse.

In the ring, Phoenix is a joy to ride. He will walk, trot, and canter and will jump a course. He jumps through grids and is good with his footwork through pole exercises. Phoenix will jump over decorative walls and flower boxes with no problem. Phoenix would be a wonderful 4-H/Pony Club mount and would be competitive in the jumper ring as he turns on a dime due to his polo pony background. He is easy in new surroundings and is one of those horses that even a junior or adult handler with limited experience will have no problem holding at the ring, loading on the trailer, clipping for their first time, or bringing into the barn/out to the field.

In the barn, Phoenix is the easiest horse. He has no bad habits, stands in the cross ties, is easy to clip, bathe, tack up - anything. He is the type of horse you can leave in the cross ties, go to the tack room to gather your things, and he will be standing there, waiting patiently to be saddled up. Phoenix has no vices, lives out in a mixed herd, is easy to catch, and gets along with everyone in the field. He is happy to stay in a stall too if you need.

Phoenix has taken advanced beginners out for their first time out with hounds and is truly a horse that is such a joy to ride that you could ride him in a halter and lead rope. Phoenix has had a wonderful life of polo, foxhunting, and jumping - snatch this guy up and enjoy doing “all the things”.
